A net force is required to change an objects velocity (speeding up, slowing down, turning)
Law of Inertia - an objects resistance to change (motion)
Newton's 2nd Law

Fnet and a are in the SAME direction
Components

**Usually one component of acceleration is zero**
Newton's 3rd Law
If object #1 exerts a force on object #2, then object #2 exerts an equal but opposite force on object #1
*size of objects does NOT matter
