Monitor blood levels- therapeutic/toxicity
Through 30 min before infusion
Prophylaxis of antiinfective agents
Primary- prevention of initial infection
Traveling to an area of high infection risk, undergoing certain procedures
Secondary - prevention of recurrence (MRsS, VRE)
Eradication
Elimination of an organism to px infection
Anti-infectives MOA's
Inhibit cell wall synthesis
Altering cell membrane
Inhibit protein synthesis
Antimetabolites
Inhibit nucleic acid synthesis
