METs, which are metabolic equivalents, fall in classes 1 thru 4.
1. Class 1 - no complaints, no activity limits. Heart disease. Max MET is 6.5, as in a game of football or casual fencing.
2. Class 2 - ordinary activity leads to fatigue, etc. Max MET is 4.5, like playing ping pong.
3. Class 3 - ordinary activity leads to fatigue, etc. Max MET 3, like washing the floor
4. Class 4 - can't carry out physical activity without discomfort. Symptoms of cardiac insufficiency at rest. Max MET is 1.5, like writing.
