Succinylcholine (Anectine)
Class: depolarizing neuromuscular blocker
Action: binds to acetylcholine receptors at the neuromuscular junction causing depolarization and subsequent paralysis
Indications: rapid sequence intubation (RSI)
Contraindications: hyperkalemia,neuromuscular disease, crush injury, burns,increased intracranial pressure, severe trauma
Doses: 1-2 mg/kg
Routes: IV,IO
Adverse effects: hyoerkalemia,bradycardia, prolonged paralysis, malignant hyperthermia, increased intracranial pressure, muscle fasciculations, trismus
Vecuronium (norcuron)
Class: Nondepolarizing neuromuscular blocker
Action: binds to acetylcholine receptors at the neuromuscular junction causing paralysis
contraindications: allergic
Doses: 0.1-0.15 mg/kg
Adverse effects: skeletal muscle weakness, malignant hyperthermia, apnea
Rocuronium (zemuron)
Contraindications: allergic
Doses: 1 mg/kg
Adverse effects: Hypertension, hypotension, skeletal muscle weakness, malignant hyperthermia, apnea
