Flexes thigh at hip joint and laterally rotates

Origin: Iliac fossa
Insertion: Lesser trochanter of the femur
Flexes and laterally rotates the thigh
Vastus medialis
Origin: Medial side of femur
Insertion: Quadriceps femoris tendon
Extends leg at knee joint
Vastus intermedius
Origin: Anterolateral Femur
Extends the leg at the knee joint
Vastus lateralis
Origin: Greater trochanter and linea aspera
Insertion: Quadriceps femoris tendon to the patella then the tibial tuberosity via the patellar ligament
Extends the leg at the knee joint.
Rectus femoris
Origin: AIIS (Anterior inferior iliac spine
Insertion: Quadriceps femoris tendon to patella then tibial tuberosity via patellar ligament.
Knee extension and hip flexion
Sartorius
Origin: ASIS (anterior superior iliac spine
Insertion: Medial surface of tibia, just inferomedial to tibial tuberosity.
Flexes the hip joint and flexes the leg at the knee joint.
