Muscular Dystrophy
Inherited. Affects men mostly. Generation of muscle fibers without nervous system involvement. Appearance of Enlarged muscles as the muscle fibers are replaced with fat. Lead to progressive weakness. Stumbling, falling, lordship, winged scapulae and cardiac problems. Duchenne is most common.
Diagnosis made by muscle biopsy and electromyography.
Polymyositis
Chronic inflammation. Presents with symmetrical muscle weakness and pain. Accompanied by rash around eyes limbs and face. May be autoimmune.
