Myosin
Primary motor protein that interacts with Actin. In addition to its role as a thick filament in a myofibril, it can be involved in cellular transport.
-Each myosin subunit has a single head and neck; movement at the neck is responsible for the "power stroke" of sarcomere (basic unit of striated muscle) contraction.
Kinesins
Motor protein associated with microtubules. Has 2 heads, at least one of which remains attached to Tubulin at all times.
-Align chromosomes in metaphase, depolarize microtubules in anaphase (mitosis)
-Bring vesicles (small structures consisting of fluid enclosed by a lipid bilayer) toward Positive end of axonal microtubule (synaptic terminal)
Dyneins
-Involved in the sliding movements of Cilia and Flagella
-Bring vesicles (small structures consisting of fluid enclosed by a lipid bilayer) toward Negative end of axonal microtubule (soma)
