Routine, for monitoring or bacteriological monitoring is performed on a regular basis the number of samples required each month is based on the population served by the public water system and whether the system operates seasonally ie schools and recreational facilities.
Every public water system must collect routine samples. The locations must be rotated from month to month so the entire distribution system is covered.
Repeat samples are collected if a routine sample comes back positive
The number of routine samples collected determines the number of repeat samples required.
Sample site plans are simple maps of the water source, storage and distribution system
They include pressure zones used to identify where routine and repeat samples will be collected. specific numbers are assigned to each site and used on the monitoring report forms sent in with the water samples
