What are Green Papers?
> Show an intention to change the law, and outlines the format this change could take.
> They're published on the internet, and distributed to interested parties.
> Open to public comments, and suggestions.
What are White Papers?
> Published by Parliament, shows the format the new law will take.
> Includes changes as a response to the opinions of the public/interested parties.
> There is a further chance for consultation before the final Bill enters Parliament for consideration.
What are the three types of Bills?
> Public Bills
> Private Members Bills
> Private Bills
What are Public Bills?
> Involves matters of public policy that will affect the whole country.
> Most Government Bills are in this catergory.
> Juries Act (1974) + Finance Act (2017)
What are Private Members Bills?
> Put foward by individual MPs, the time given for debating them is short, as they're not high on the Gov agenda.
> Rarely get through to become law.
> Abortion Act (1967) + Marriage Act (1994)
What are Private Bills?
> A law that is designed to only affect certain individuals or corporations.
> UCL Act (1986) + Whitehaven Harbour Act (2007)
