Linear Function
A function whose graph is a straight line and has a constant slope.
Slope
The "steepness" of a line; a ratio of the change in y- coordinates (rise) of a graph to the change in corresponding x- coordinates (run). The symbol for slope is m.
Y- intercept
The y- coordinates of the point at which a line crosses the y- axis.
Rate of Change
The ratio in y- values to the corresponding change in x- values.
Initial Value
An interpretation of the y- intercept of the graph of an equation in a real world situation.
Slope-intercept Form
The equation of a straight line in the form y=mx+b where m is the slope of the line and b is its y- intercept.
