Decorticate rigidity
Abnormal flexion of upper extremities (tight against chest)
Legs stiffly extended and internally rotated with planter flexion of feet
Results: damage to one or both corticospinal tracts
Decerebrate rigidity
Abnormal extension of arms with wrists pronated and the fingers flexed.
Legs are stiffly extended with planter flexion of feet
Results: damage to upper brain stem
