-Tourists come to enjoy scenery e.g large lakes and mountains
- Many activities available e.g bird watching, walking, pony trekking, boat rides, sailing, rock climbing
-Cultural attractions e.g the Beatrix Potter and Wordsworth museums
What problems to tourists cause in the Lake District? (3 reasons)
-Traffic Congestion
-Erode footpaths
-Drop litter
What strategies are being carried out to reduce the problems caused by tourists in the Lake District? (3 things)
-Coping with extra traffic e.g public transport being improved
-Coping with erosion of footpaths e.g encouraging tourists to use less vulnerable areas
-Protecting wildlife and farmland e.g signs to remind visitors to take litter home and covered bins provided at most popular sights
What plans are being made to keep attracting tourists?(6 things)
-To attract extra 2 million tourists my 2018 & to increase amount tourists spend from £1.1 billion per year to £1.5 billion per year
-Public transport to be improved making lakes even more accessible
-Widespread advertising & marketing
-Farms encouraged to provide services e.g archery
-Timeshare developments
-Encouraging tourists to go to areas outside of National Park
