Appearance, similarity, complementary, reciprocal attraction, competence, disclosure, proximity, rewards.
What is social exchange theory?
Rewards-costs=outcome
Relationships suffer when one partner feels underbenefited. The equation is used to determine if another person is a "good deal" or "not worth the effort."
Describe those reasons we form relationships.
Disclosure- builds liking; when others share private info with you it makes it seem like they respect and trust you.
Competence- love to be around talented people because we hope that rubs off on us. Not too talented though, makes them look bad.
