Intercultural encounters
Takes place through human journeys. Whether it is tourism, pilgrimages and movement of conquests or cultural artefacts, visual art or media. - Humans of New York
Hero Balani
Hero is male, Indian, Hindu, 24, investment associate at Beltraide, travels for work all the time and does not let his ethnicity or traditions define who he is.
Hero cont'd
Hero loves his family and his culture but the negative stereotypes that plague members of the Indian and Hindu discourses of Belize and in his experience, the world, have made him narrow minded about his own culture. Where as with other customs and traditions he has opened his eyes and accepted that everyone does things differently. Belonging to a religion that is far different than the christian denomination has helped him to cope with being open minded to the different experiences he's had and has prepared him for the upcoming ones. However, he is still not ready to tell everyone he meets that he is Indian and Hindu. They often mistake him for a latino and this has sometimes helped him in his travels.
