In science we often rely on:
Indirect evidence
Theory
-a guess as opposed to fact
-explanation or model for something that is supported by evidence
-may have started as a guess but has been proven right with a number of evidence leading to believe that it is a fact
-constantly revised so that they fit the current evidence and best expains what we observe
-has several parts which concentrate around a single event/phenomenon
Law
-observed so many times that scientists are convinced that they will always happen
-highest level of proof
-almost always takes the form of a mathematical equation
