The first three stages of grievances
1. Filing grievances :- typically the employee submits a form detailing the incident and providing supporting documentation.
2. The manager's role:- once the grievances have been submitted, the facilitator will inform the manager. Then the manager will need to provide documentation of the incident and any disciplinary measures. ( If available and applicable).
3. Other documents :- other documents that can be presented are
1. Photographs
2. Building plans
3. Phone records
4. Job description
5. Expense receipt
6. Mileage report
7. E-mail
8. Production records
9. Working files
PANEL PRESENTATION
As a reminder, here is generally how the hearing should go.

Why does the process fail
There are many reasons why the peer review process can fail.
1. Employees are not familiar with the process.
2. Panel/facilitator seen as biased
3. Panel is not seen as valid/useful
4. Changes recommended by panel not implemented; panel loses credibility
5. No buy-in from management or staff .

What is the only real way to motivate? The only way to get a person to do something is to make the person want to do it in order to get something they want or avoid something they don't want.
Why is motivation important ?
Some definitions of motivation
1. Motivation is a force that leads people to attempt to satisfy their important needs
2. Motivation is a drive from within that prompts or incites an action.
* What can a supervisor so to motivate others? Supervisors need to creat a climate in which internal motivation will activate performance. In order for this to happen, supervisors need to know their staff, what motivates them, and how to creat a motivating climate.
** There are three main types of motivator.
1. The carrot
2. The whip and
3. The plant

Two theories that are often referred to are:
1. Abraham Maslow's Hierarchy of needs
2. Frederick Herzberg's Dual Structure Theory.
