Britain sent financial and military aid to the government, which included sending 40,000 troops to fight the uprisingIn 1946 Stalin appealed to the UN that the GB troops were a threat to peace in Greece. This was followed by a violent uprising.
1947
In 1947 GB announced that they could no longer afford to keep the troops in Europe. The US, fearing a Soviet takeover, supplied Greece and Turkey with a $400 million Grant. The communists were defeated
