Coastal Retreat
Coastal Erosion that causes the coastline to retreat.
Stage 1
Destructive waves and increased hydraulic action. The waves smash against the cliffs. This undercuts the cliff creating a wave cut notch. Which leaves the cliff face unsupported.
Stage 2
Sub -aerial weathering weakens the cliff. Causing mass movement of material. The loose material at the bottom of the cliff, is constantly being moved around. By the process attrition. Material will be transported.
Wave Cut Platform
Found at the base of the cliff, however only visible in low tide. It's a platform as its flat compared to its surroundings. The ground is uneven, and varies in size.
