tunica intima: endothelium, selctive permeable barrier, what goes in/out
tunica media: made of smooth muscle and elastic fibers
tunica externa: made of CT, collagen & elastic fibers
elastic: biggest artery, (aorta), elastic tissue called internal elastic lamina
muscular:branches, smaller, 40 layers smooth muscle, brachial, femoral, renal
arteriole: 25 layers smooth muscle & little elastic
3. What functions do capillaries serve?
rapid diffusion of O2 and nutrients??, thin walls(single cell layer) make it easy
4. Veins are not classified by wall characteristics but by what factor?

5. Describe the main structural differences that distinguish arterial from venous vessels.
valves?? tunica media is thicker in arteries than veins b/c of heavy blood flow, larger lumen in veins
