Durkheim developed this term to explain why some people become dysfunctional and turn to crime.
Anomie causes society to beome less intergrated and more individualistic.
#Durkheim's Thoery of 4 Key characteristics of crime
1. Inevitability - Crime will always exist
2. Universal - Crime happens everywhere
3. Relative - What is classed as a crime differs from country to country
4. Functional - A small amount of crime could strengthen the bonds between society
#Positive Deviance
"Today's deviants are tomorrow's innovators."
Without deviants questioning the norms and values of society, it would stagnate society.
