3. Week 4 verticals have matured and unidirectional blood flow starts
4. Week 8 all valves and chambers are formed and blood is flowing through the heart
Important events in extrauterine life
1. Increased pulmonary blood flow (decreasing PVR)
2. Closure of foramen Ovale due to increasing left atrial pressures
3. Closure of ductus Arteriosus due to increased prostaglandins and increased aortic pressures
4. Ductus venosus closes in first week of life
