Dehydration
symptoms: yellow or dark urine, dizziness, dry mouth, fainting, weakness, shaking
administer water to the victim
Heat Stroke
symptoms: headache, dizziness, lack of sweating, red dry skin, cramps, nausea, rapid heartbeat, shallow breathing
immediately call 911
remove unnecessary clothing
fan the patient, apply ice, immerse in cool water
Hypothermia
symptoms: shivering, clumsiness, slurred speech or mumbling, confusion, drowsiness, shallow breathing, lack of self-concern
Call 911
Move the person inside slowly, remove wet clothing, cover with layers of blankets
Muscle/Tendon Strain
symptoms: pain, spasms, weakness, swelling, or cramping
rest, ice, compression and elevation
apply anti-inflammatory medication if necessary
Ligament/Joint Sprains
symptoms: pain, swelling, bruising, little ability to move or use the joint
rest, ice compression, elevation
apply anti-inflammatoy medication
Heart Attack
symptoms: uncomfortable pressure in chest, squeezing, discomfort in one or both arms, the back, neck, jaw or stomach, shortness of breath, cold sweat, lightededness
Keep the person calm, loosen tight clothing and administer any prescribed medication
Excessive/Heavy Bleeding
symptoms: lots of blood
Cover the person to prevent loss of body heat, elevate sight of bleeding, remove obvious debris from wound, apply direct pressure to wound, don't remove any gauze or bandage, immobilize the injured body part once bleeding has stopped
