A person holding an instructor license may:
perform and instruct a person in any practice of cosmetology
to be eligible for an instructor license an applicant must:
be 18+ years old
High a highschool diploma or equivalent
pass the exam required
hold an operator license
-and have 750 hours of instruction in methods of teaching in a private beauty culture school or vocational training program of a public postsecondary institution
-one year of verifiable experience as an operator and 500 hours of instruction
and 500 hours of instruction in cosmetology in an approved program
-completed 15 semester hours in education courses through an accredited college or uni within 10 years before date of application
-obtained a degree in education from an accredited college or uni
The commission shall adopt rules for the licensing of specialty instructors to teach specialty courses in the practice of cosmetology defined in
1602.002(a)(2, 4-11)
