E-crime definition
An Electronic-crime or cybercrime is a type of crime which takes place over the internet or via mobile device. It is an attack or abuse using tech which is intended to cause another harm, distress or financial loss.
Types of e-crime?
Not limited to;
- cyber bullying
- trolling someone online
- sending an abusive sms or email
- posting embarrassing pics/ vids online without the others consent
- intimidation
- stalking
- child exploitation & grooming
- identity fraud & theft
- financial scams
- virus attacks
- setting up false online profiles to target an individual or group.
First responders role?
- obtain account of what happened
- establish if a crime exists
- secure digital evidence
- make referrals to gov & non-gov agencies.
