Dev app idea
Purpose.
Organisation and self management and leadership in the dev world is equally Important as technical skills.
Slow/ineffective development is not due to laziness or complacency it is usually because we hit a problem that doesn't make sense. Rather than having a process to continue progress (I) we generally move on to things deemed easier in our minds. But this ultimate halts progress on our highest priority from the project perspective working on low priority take or even no tasks is clearly wasted time and money.
SOLUTION:
“Relax. Think. Make a call.” in chaotic, and overwhelming situations understand how to implement the Laws of Progressive Development : Stop and step back, describe problem, Test, Prioritize and Execute.
This should be the back stop for test driven development.
Components.
Dev machine working directory.
Client Application runs on dev machine.
Hub application on managers machine.
Process
App periodically scans working directory and db schema and data for changes and to what changes are being made to what parts.
When progress is slowed or halted for extended periods without the developer being on break, the app will prompt the user to: stop.
Report the issue. It's nature either design or bug.
The symptoms and probable causes.
Prioritise The steps to resolve
Execute.
The app will check in with the user at a given time. They can choose report to manager / request help.
With time as the user gets better at this work flow, the process is stream lined
Issue reported and solution reported. Timer still operates and information still sent to management hub
Daily reports and or periodic reports are sent to management hub.
Issues and rate of work / changes are reported.
Time working and break time.
