Automatism
Is an act done by the muscles without control by the mind. It can only be use as a defense if it have the following requirements:
Complete loss of control.
An external cause.
Automatism must not be self-induce
Insanity
Is a legal term for mental illness of such degree that individual is not responsible for his or her act(internal cause). Mental illness refers to a wide range of mental health conditions or disorder that affect your mood, thinking,behavior and ability to function.
Self defense
Is the way of protecting oneself and property against harm or threats. Self defense is the absence of unlawfulness element of the actus reus of fatal and non-fatal offences.
For self defense to be used as a defence it must involve the following:
The force must be necessary
The force used must be proportionate.
