Broken window thesis; developed by Wilson
The window is broken by crime, if there is no social control and criminal behaviour is tolerated, the window remains broken and crime increases
No social control -- criminals lose their sense of belonging -- increase in crim -- damaged society
Relative deprivation theory
The theory states that people who are deprived of something eg education, luxury possesions, material things that they think they have a right to can feel frustrated and resort to crime to get these things.
Berkowitz 1972
Frustration can cause aggression, causing violent and criminal behaviour
