What is a labor market survey?
-a method of information gathering about particular jobs that are specific to a geographical area for a client being served
The purpose of conducting a labor market survey is:
-to look into placeability of a client in a particular job, i.e. whether clients who have the skills can actually obtain the job
What types of questions can be answered by completing a labor market survey?
-Do jobs of a particular nature exist in the economy?
-If these jobs exist, are they available locally?
-If jobs are available locally, were they available within the last few months and will they be available in the near future?
-If there is job availability, will the jobs be available for my client?
-What do these jobs pay, including benefits?
What methods can an RC use to complete a labor market survey?
-review of local job postings in the newspaper or online (e.g. indeed, monster, etc.)
-contacting personal or professional connections
-contacting employers locally to complete a detailed survey regarding availability of specific jobs for a client
