4 styles of personal conflict management
1) avoidance -
2) accomodation - smooth it over
3) competition - domination. aggression - lack of compromise.
4) collaboration
Conflicts have 3 components
1) Content- the substance of the dispute
2) Process - communication and behavoir
3) Emotional - how we feel about the situation
Within a conflict situation each individual has
1) a position - what one wants
2) A need or interest - Why one wants it.
To resolve the issue...
Focus on the needs and interests vs their position.
