What is adjacent layer
On a single computer one layer provides a service to a higher layer. The software that implements a higher layer that requests that the next lower layer perform the function
Provides a service to a higher layer
What are link layer rules?
Step1 > The IP packet is encapsulated between an ethernet header which creates an ethernet frame.
Step 2 > Bits of the ethernet frame are transmitted using electricity
Step 3 > Bits are received over the cable and are recreated by interpreting the electrical signals
Step 4 > The router de-encapsulates the IP packet from the ethernet frames and discards the ethernet header and trailer

What is the 5 step proces for TCP/IP sending data?
1.Encapsulation
2.When data moves upper layer to lower level of the TCP/IP stack each layer includes a header followed by the data.
3.The header and data is repackaged to the next lower level with the lower layers header.
4.Decapsulation occurs when data is recieved on the destination computer. as data moves up from the lower layer to the upper layer of TCP/IP stack each layer unpacks the corresponding header and uses the information contained in the header to deliver the packet to the exact network application waiting for the data
