- Consists of the heart, blood vessels and the blood.

- the blood vessels deliver the blood to cells

Tasks

- consists of blood cells and plasma
The Blood: Blood cells 50%
Blood cells (50% of blood)- made in bone marrowRBC (erytrocytes) • haemoglobin > binds oxygen > made of iron > made in liver - bends, disc-like shape- no nucleus or other organelles WBC (leucocytes)- fights off disease- most phagocytes • macrophages • neutrophils- Some lymphocytes • B-cells > antibodies • T-cells > helper T-cell: controls immune system > killer T-cell: kills own infected cells- found in tissues, lymph nodes, lymph Platelets (thrombocytes)- help blood clotting- prot. Fibrinogen > Fibrin net - Fibrin sticks blood cells together- done by enzyme trombin(K-vitamin) Disease: Hemofilia

- works as a solvent

Proteins
- eg. albumin, lipoprotein, fibrinogen, antibodies
- transports hormones and drugs
- made in liver
