Also given after amniocentesis
Negative/ Positive mother and baby

Causes lost of DTRs, resp. depression
Inhibits uterine ctx's
Calcium gluconate
Reverses the effects of mag sulfate
Serum mag levels
Below 4 =seizure increase mag sulfate dose
Above 8 = mag sulfate toxicity stop mag sulfate given cal gluconate
