There are four very important decisions that must be made early in the productions life for selecting timecode. What are they?
1) Does the production need time code? Many productions use audio that is shot wild and sync is done via slate.
2) What medium will the production be shot on? Film, HD, Digital Betacam, RED, DSLR etc.?3) What medium will be used in the post-production phase? Avid Media Com- poser, Apple Final Cut Pro, Adobe Premiere?
4) What medium(s) will the production be released on? Film, Broadcast, Digital Delivery, etc.
As of 2009 what has been the most common acquisition medium for digitally projected features?
35mm film scanned and processed at 2K or 4K resolution via digital intermediate
If film is the originating media then what frame rate must the picture be?
24 fps
If 24P HD video is the originating media, then what frame rate must the picture be?
23.976 fps
