Adaptation
An adaptation is a feature that members of a species have that increase their chance of survival & reproduction
These feats can be physiological, behavioural & anatomical.
Orgs with better adaptions are more likely to survive, reproduce and pass on the advantageous alleles that determine these adaptations.
This increases the frequency of the alleles in the population so the adaptations become more common. This is called NATURAL SELECTION.
Each species is adapted to its own niche within an ecosystem, specifically adapted to use the environment in a way that no other species can
Org are adapted to both abiotic & biotic features in their ecosystem.
Population
A population is all the orgs of 1 species in a habitat.
Populations of different species make up a community
Population Size is the total num of org of 1 species in a habitat
This num changes over time because of various factors
The max pop size that can stay sustainable in an ecosystem is the carrying capacity; which varies as a result of abiotic/biotic factors
