based on location, S&S, how long they've been there, age, knowledge level, etc.

to get the subjective story before we begin treatment-- we know why they are here
What are the components of a health history?
previous health history/ family history, medication list, allergies, current health status, reason for admission, psychosocial history, life style
What are communication techniques that enhance/diminish data collection?
enhance: active listening, asking for clarification, adapting to communication needs, knowledge level
diminish: mumble, no eye contact, ignoring adaptations, judgement, using "Why?"
What are some interviewing techniques that will enhance communication?
privacy, sitting at eye-level, phrase questions correctly, professional actions/appearance
What are some health history variations related to age?
