Not very good at assessing the rare things, such as dependency on methamphetimines. Would have to wait a long time for these things to emerge

The emotional Stroop task.

to try and match people to effective treatment plans, but cognitive assessments don't have great predictive power.

Is there cognitive recovery in methamphetamine users if they abstain?

Not really. Relapsers are generally more cognitively able than abstainers, but over time the abstainers become faster at motor skills and processing, but not for memory and learning.




But we can give people ritalin to improve cognitive performance on tasks

So why don't be give MA users when detoxing drugs to help them get better?

Systematic reviews have found that they aren't effective, really, for preventing relapse.




They may be effective in the initial withdrawal stage, to help them be cognitively perk in order for them to participate in psychological treatments, such as CBT
