Mandibular division of Trigeminal/CN V:

Only division of CN V containing motor fibers (supply muscles of mastication, tensor muscles of the palate & tympanic membrane, mylohyoid and anterior belly of the digastric in floor of the oral cavity/)

Divides into anterior & posterior divisions.

Anterior Cervical Triangle boundaries
superiorly: lower border of the body of the mandible;
posteriorly: anterior border of the sternomastoid;
anteriorly: midline extending from the chin to the sternal notch in the manubrium
Anterior Cervical Triangle subdivisions
1) submandibular triangle
-body of mandible & digastric muscle (both bellies.)

2) carotid triangle
-sternomastoid, posterior belly of digastric, and the superior belly of omohyoid.

3) The muscular triangle
-superior belly of omohyoid, the lower anterior margin of sternomastoid, and the midline of the neck.

4) submental triangle
-anterior bellies of R&L digastric muscles, and the body of the hyoid.
