Construction Lines
Very light thin lines used as a guide for positioning objects on drawings.
boarder lines
The heaviest lines used in drafting serving as a frame for a drawing and establishing a space between the drawing and the edge of the paper.
Hidden lines
Thin, dashed lines used to identify features that cannot be seen in the given view.
Extension lines
Light lines used to project dimension lines to specify points on an object.

Dimension lines
Thin lines normally drawn between two extension lines, with arrows or ticks at the end and a dimension in the center.
Orthographic
A method of showing a three- dimensional object in two dimensional object in two dimensions by displaying various views.
Unidirectional
A method of dimensioning in which dimensions are placed horizontally on the drawing sheet and read from the bottom of the drawing.
Actual size
The size of the object as measured
GA
Gage
ID / OD
Inside diameter / Outside diameter
OC

NOM

HD

Section lines
Section lines used when drawing inside features of an object exposed by a cutting plane. lines are drawn using patterns corresponding to different materials.
Cutting plane lines
Heavy dashed lines used to show sectional views. arrows are extended from the end points to illustrate the viewing direction.
Isometric plane lines
The angle at which isometric horizontal lines are, which is 30°.
Pipe
a cylinder with an outside diameter and an inside diameter.
Cylinder
A geometric figure with a uniform circular cross- section through its entire view.
Tolerance
an allowable variance from the original dimension.
What is the initial position of objects in a drawing determined by?
Construction lines
Areas not visible on a view are shown with what type of line?
Hidden Lines
Lines that have arrows as terminators are called what?
Dimension Lines
The terminator of a dimension line is indicated with what type of line?
Extension Lines
What is the common angle used in isometric drawings?
30°
What is the difference between a cylinder and a pipe?
A pipe has an inside diameter and an outside diameter.
What is the projection method used to create 3 or more views?
Orthographic Projection.
What is unilateral Dimensioning?
A method of dimensioning in which dimensions are placed horizontally on the drawing sheet and read from the bottom of the drawing.
