I-IT vs I-THOU
I-IT- an impersonal relationship where the other person is not treated as a genuine person (salesclerk)
I-THOU when interacting with another as an authentic individual instead of an object.

GOAL: for the purpose of forming and maintaining relationships
THIN SLICING
is to sample a small bit of someone's behavior and then generalize as to what the person is all about

RECEIVER-or decoder -the person who interprets msg (can be filtered by past exp, attitudes,beliefs,biases, etc)

when humans comm, a symbol (ie: english language,word,sound or visual) is used which may have various meanings and interpretations which may be misinterpreted.
