List the 3 characteristics of the hybrid approach
1)This approach targets one or a small set of specific language goals.
2) Clinician maintains a good deal of control in selecting activities & materials, but does so to tempt the child to make spontaneous use of target utterances
3)Clinician uses linguistic stimuli not just to respond to the child, but to model & highlight forms being targeted
Name the hybrid approach where the clinician arranges the context of interaction so the child is tempted to produce utterances in obligatory context for the forms being targeted.
Focused Stimulation
The hybrid approach in which a particular form of expansion used similarly to focused stimulation and is used to highlight target structures.
Vertical Structuring
The three major components that characterize milieu teaching.
1) Environmental arrangement
2) Responsive interaction
3) Conversation-based contexts that use the child interest and initiation as opportunities for modelling and prompting communication in everyday setting.
This hybrid approach applies operant principles to naturalistic settings. The focus is to increase the frequency of assertions the child makes. This approach is useful in small group or classroom settings.
Milieu teaching
A Milieu teaching method in which the clinician arranges the setting so that desirable objects are visible to the child but out of reach and responds with focused attention.
Incidental Teaching Method.
The Milieu teaching method in which the clinician arranges the setting so that desirable objects are visible to the child but out of reach. The clinician observes the child and based on when the child shows interest the clinician will request an utterance.
The Mand-Model method
The Milieu method designed for children not yet speaking @ developmental levels of 9-15 mo (may be up to 6 years of age) The goal is to increase the frequency, maturity, & complexity of nonverbal communicative acts (eye gaze, vocalizations, gestures etc)
Prelinguistic Milieu Teaching
(PMT)
Which form of milieu teaching is focused on parent delivered treatment?
Enhanced Milieu teaching
The method of Milieu teaching which is effective for children who do some verbal imitation, use ten or more expressive words or more and have an MLU that ranges from 1-3.5 morphemes.
