They enter corners of the mouth directly from above and below to produce facial expression.
How do the angular muscles of the face function?
They approach the corners of the mouth obliquely from above and below to produce facial expressions.
How do the transverse muscles of the face funtion?
They are horizontal from their origin and insert into the orbicularis oris. They produce bilabial stops and nasal sounds.
What is the functionof the parallel facial muscles?
They are not truly lip muscles but are superficial muscles in the region; they include the Incisivus labii superior, and the incisivus labii inferior.
What is the function of the incisivus labii superior?
To help pucker and round the lips.
What is the function of the Incisivus Labii Inferior?
To draw in the corner of the mouth medially and downward.
