A condition in which the tube through which air enters the lungs is blocked.
Myocardial Infarction (MI)
A condition that occurs when the heart muscle does not receive enough oxygen because blood vessels are blocked; also called a heart attack.

Difficulty breathing.

Complication of diabetes that can result from either too much insulin or too little food; also known as hypoglycemia.

syncope
A result of decreased blood flow to the brain. Also called fainting.
first degree burns
Involve just the outer layer of the skin. The skin becomes red, painful and swollen, but no blisters occur.
second degree burns
Extends from the outer layer of the skin to the next deeper layer of the skin. The skin is red, painful, swollen, and blister occur.
third degree burns
May extend to the bone. If the nerves are destroyed, the person will not feel pain. The skin is shiny and appears hard. It may be white in color.
epistaxis
Medical term for a nosebleed.
Diabetic Ketoacidosis (DKA)
Complication of diabetes that is caused by having too little insulin; also called hyperglycemia or diabetic coma.
epilepsy
An illness of the brain that produces seizures.
emesis
The act of vomiting, or ejecting stomach content through the mouth.
Transient Ischemic Attack (TIA)
A warning sign of a CVA/stroke resulting from a temporary lack of oxygen in the brain; symptoms may last up to 24 hours.
hyperglycemia
A diabetic condition caused by having too little insulin. Also known as Diabetic Ketoacidosis (DKA) or diabetic coma.
hypoglycemia
A diabetic condition caused by either having too much insulin or too little food. Also known as Insulin Reaction.
