Expanded talent pool, Multiple viewpoints, better decision-making, more flexible and adaptable organizations, ready for a multi-cultural world.
What does it mean to homogenize 'others'?
Accepting diversity but denying the diverse members a legitimate place in the organization.
What is the paradox of visibility?
Added pressure to succeed from being the 'first' in an organization-the first woman or the first african american.
What does it mean to marginalize 'others'?
accept 'others' present in the organization, but isolate them in spaces with relatively little power.
What is the 'glass ceiling'?
A term from the 1980s to describe a barrier that is so thin it is almost invisible but keeps women and minorities from taking management positions in organizations.
What is the resource-acquisition argument for diversity in organizations?
companies develop reputations as prospective employers for women and ethnic minorities. Those with the best reputations for managing diversity will win the competition for best personnel.
What is the systems flexibility argument for diversity in organizations?
an implication of the multicultural model for managing diversity is that the system will become less determinnt, less standardized and therefore more fluid. This should create greater flexibility for change.

Sexual harrassment, stigmatization, balancing work and home
