What is the function of the cardiovascular system?
The cardiovascular system carries needed substances to cells and carries waste products away from cells.
What role does the heart play in the cardiovascular system?
The heart pumps blood throughout the body
What is the Aorta and what does it do?
The largest blood vessel in the body.

It carries blood from the left ventricle to the body.
What is Septum and what does it do?
Thick muscular wall that separates the left side of the heart from the right.

Prevents oxygen-rich and oxygen-poor blood from mixing in the heart.
What is the function of the Right Ventricle?
It contracts and pumps oxygen-poor blood to the lungs.
What does the Left Ventricle do?
Pumps oxygen-rich blood to all parts of the body.
What are valves and what do they do in the heart?
Flap of tissue.

Prevents blood from flowing backward.
What are Arteries?
Blood vessels that carry blood away from the heart.
What are Capillaries?
Tiny vellsels that conncet the arteries and veins.
What are veins?
Blood vessels that carry blood back to the heart.
What causes blood pressure?
The force from the ventricles contracting.
What is Plasma?
The liquide part of the blood
What are platelets?
Tiny blood cells that stop bleeding.
What is Hemoglobin?
Iron-containing protein that binds chemically to oxygen molecultes.
What do white blood cells do?
Fight the body's diseases.
