Why would the Romans have shown so much animosity toward the Christians?
Christians:
told the romans that only the Christians would go to heaven; said non-believers were evil;refused to worship the Roman emperor as a god and this was against the law.
How might Constantine have demonstrated toleration for Christianity within his Empire?
Used the cross on shields & imperial materials; allowed public worship....

Roman roads; common languages; treated all as equals; promised better loife after death; Jesus was a real person; missionaries preached; persecuted-martyrs
