"Due process of law" (5th Amendment)
This means that the government must follow rules as it carries out the laws.
9th AMENDMENT
These are the rights retained by the people.

This amendment says that there are rights not listed in the Constitution.
10th AMENDMENT
These are the powers reserved to the states.

This Amendment, along with the 9th amendments helps to keep a balance of power and rights.
2nd AMENDMENT
This is often at the center of debate in this country it protects the right to own guns.
1st AMENDMENT
This includes the freedom of speech, press, religion and assembly. It doe not include the right to vote.
3rd AMENDMENT
This is the right to refuse the quartering of troops in homes.
4th AMENDMENT
This protects against illegal searches and seizures.
2nd, 3rd, and 4th Amendments
All of these 3 amendments responded to the historical experience of British rule in colonial America.
Examples of 1st Amendment protected rights
criticizing officials in an editorial, debating controversial issues in class, promoting ideas that are unpopular.
