What is the chemical formula for methane? |
CH4 |
What is the chemical formula for ethane? |
C2H6 |
What type of atoms bond covalently? |
Non-metals |
How do you work out the charge of an ion? |
The charge of a metal ion = group no. Charge of a non-metal ion = group no.-8 |
Describe what happens when magnesium reacts with chlorine. |
Electrons transfer from magnesium to chlorine. The magnesium atom loses 2e- to obtain a full outer electron shell. Each of the two chlorine atoms gain 1e- to obtain full outer electron shells. |
