Solutions
Homogeneous and small enough not to be seen

Particles, ions,molecules,atoms

Ex. Penny, Air, Salt+H2O
Colloids
Appears to be Homogeneous

Particles are microscopic

Milk, Jello
Suspensions
Heterogenous with macroscopic particles

Chicken Soup, Salad Dressing, Sand+H2O+Salt
Mixture vs Compound
Can all be sepereated by physical means while componds cannot

Compounds have a constant composition and mixtures do not

EX. Compound= Water is always 88.8% O

Mixture=Brass can range between 10-45% zinc
Material Used for Lab
1)Filter Paper
2)Funnel
3)Clay Triangle
4)Graduated Cylinder
Physical vs Chemical Change
Chemical change is at a molecular level and the substance changed. When it is phsyical it is still the same substance

Physical is reversible and chemical is not

Physical change you have the same substance while chemical it is a totally new substance

Water and sugar is a physical change because once the water is evaporated the sugar is still there
