Alexander Hamilton

Who- A political party in the early United States that fought for a strong central Government.
When- Founded in 1792 Significance- Created a strong central government and started the creation of separate factions in the United States government. |

Anti Federalists
|
Who- Te name for those that opposed the formation of strong central government and the Federalist party.
When- 1792 Significance- Marked the beginning of rival factions in the United states. |

The Federalist Papers
|
What- A collection of essays advocating the ratification of the United States Constitution.
When- First published in 1788. Significance- Still remains the primary source of interpretation of the United States Constitution. |

The Bill of Rights
|
What- A list of ten amendments made to the Constitution which specifically labeled some of the people's rights.
When- Created 1789, ratified in 1791. Significance- Clearly stated the rights of the people and made it so that the government cannot infringe on those rights. |

The Cabinet

What- A group of high ranking government officials which act much like a parliament or an executive counsel.
When- First mention of a "cabinet council" in 1605 in England. Significance- Created a system where a group of people, not just a single person, helped to make the decisions for a nation. |

What- The first national bank in the united states that was meant to run on a 20 year charter and help to settle the national debt.
When- Established in 1791 Significance- Marked the beginning of a stable banking system in the United states |

Whiskey Rebellion

What- A rebellion sparked in teh frontier areas of the country over the issue of a new tax that was put into place by president George Washington. It quickly dissolved when the president himself led a militia force straight to the heart of the rebellion.

What- A treaty made with the Spanish that marked the boundaries between the Spanish colonies and the United States that also gave American vessels navigation rights to the Mississippi River.
When- 1795 Significance- Gave the Americans access to the Mississippi River and created a relationship with Spain. |
