1. Alexander Hamilton
The first united states secretary of treasury, a founding father, and political philosopher. He wrote most of the federalist papers.
Wanted the constitution to overlook the articles of confederation, but brought a complete change in the U.S constitution
2. The Founding Fathers
The large group of political leaders of the united states of America after the revolutionary war. The adopted the U.S constitution as its form of government.
3. The Virginia Plan
Drafted by James Madison at the Constitutional Convention of 1787. It set an agenda for the meeting and set the idea of having a population based representation of the current national legislature.
4. The Great Compromise
The agreement between the large and small states during the Constitutional Convention in 1787 that brought representation for each state under the new state constitution.
It resulted to the House of Representatives and the United States Senate
5. James Madison
The Principal Author of the U.S constitution, wrote over 1/3 of the federalist paper which was the most influential commentary on the constitution. He was also the father of the bill of rights. Believed that the united states needed checks and balances in order to prevent corruption in the U.S constitution. He was also a republican.
6. Sovereignty
The quality of having supreme, independent authority over territory.
7. Separation of Powers
It separated the power between the supreme court, the president and the Senates/House of representatives on making laws and preventing corruption.
8. Federalists
It was developed during the era of the first party system. The party was formed by Alexander Hamilton and during this time he built a network of supporters, largely urban bankers and businessmen, to support his fiscal policies.
